Matthew Wolfenden Dishes on the New Man He’s Bringing to ‘Hollyoaks’

Matthew Wolfenden is set to join Hollyoaks in the coming days. Now the soap opera icon is opening up about how his new character Jonah compares to his previous roles.

He also compared Jonah to his former Emmerdale character, David Metcalfe. “Jonah’s very different he’s very much in love with Beth,” Wolfenden said. “David did go through quite a reem of different women through his time at Emmerdale, he was a bit of a loveable dope whereas Jonah is very dependable, he’s an accountant, he’s very reliable and very much in love with his wife and they’re still both very much in the honeymoon stages of their relationship…” Before teasing, “or it would seem.”

The actor also shared his experience working in Liverpool. “I’m loving Liverpool,” he said. “I actually did pantomime in St Helens just before I got offered Hollyoaks, so I had a little taste of St Helens, and we went out in Liverpool a few times.” The actor shared that he’s been very busy since starting Hollyoaks, however he is hoping to do some sightseeing and exploration in the coming days.

Hollyoaks airs Monday through Wednesday’s on E4 in the U.K. with episodes streaming globally one week later on the show’s official YouTube channel.
