ITV soap fans will know that Dr Caitlin Todd (played by Caroline Harker) has been tormenting her protégé, Jacob Sugden (Joe-Warren Plant), for months.

The storyline reached a climax last month when Jacob lodged a complaint with HR about Todd’s conduct. However, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) swiftly persuaded him to withdraw it, after the wicked doctor threatened to reveal to Jacob that his newborn daughter, Leyla, wasn’t his biological child – she is actually Charity’s daughter with Ross Barton (Michael Parr).

Last week, Todd confessed to taking “fun” in bullying the youngster, before turning her attention to Charity. The malicious doctor demanded £10,000 for her silence, with Charity grudgingly handing over £5,000.

In Friday’s (May 15) episode, now available to stream on ITVX, Todd was gearing up to leave the village after inheriting her childhood home in Matlock from her late father. However, her plans took a turn when she discovered that Charity owned half of The Woolpack, reports the Express.

Speaking to her flatmate and potential romantic interest, Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick), Todd said: “I think I might have been a bit too hasty… There’s nothing waiting for me in Sheffield, not really. There’s no need for me to go today, or tomorrow, or any day. If it’s okay with you, I might stay for a bit longer, see how things go.”

The doctor then pulled Charity to one side at the bar, declaring: “You said a lot of things, but you did fail to mention one thing – you owning half of this place.”

A bewildered Charity replied: “Yeah, so?” with Todd pressing on: “Does lying just come naturally to you? Is it in your blood? Is it hereditary? Oh, poor little Leyla.”

Charity furiously cut in, declaring: “Please stop right there! I’m not giving you another penny, okay? And anyway, I haven’t got it to give,” before Todd observed: “Oh, I think you do. And take it from someone who’s been looking recently, it really is a seller’s market.”

The doctor then demanded £100,000 to disappear, proposing that Charity should sell her half of the pub to meet their arrangement.

Now, numerous Emmerdale fans believe they’ve identified a vital piece of evidence that could expose Todd’s wicked behaviour to the villagers. Many viewers are hoping that Charity and Jacob join forces to obtain CCTV footage from the pub and shop, which would reveal Todd’s intimidation and extortion.

“Is there no CCTV in the shop? Could show her threatening Jacob,” one person posted on a Facebook fan page.

Another chimed in: “Omg yes! And in the pub of her blackmailing Charity,” while a third commented: “CCTV is exactly what they need to take her down.”

A fourth viewer shared the view, suggesting: “Maybe Ryan comes across it when he’s checking for the money that Charity supposedly took to the bank?”

The drama continues to unfold next week when Charity is denied a loan extension. As Todd escalates her threats about what she “owes”, Charity turns to Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly) in a bid to offload her stake in the pub. Will Ruby be willing to purchase it from her?
