The Good Doctor fans slam Asher’s ‘cheap and senseless’ death as it reminds them of another killed-off character
THE Good Doctor has killed off a beloved character on a recent episode of the drama and fans are angry.
Fans related Dr. Asher Wolke’s death to another character who died senselessly.
Asher, played by Noah Galvin, was brutally attacked at the end of Season 7, episode five, leaving his fate ambiguous.
However, when the next episode aired, the show began with his funeral.
Asher was hit over the head with a sharp object in an antisemitic, anti-LGBTQ+ attack.
Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) sat front row and Dr. Jordan Allen, Asher’s best friend, delivered the eulogy.

“Asher and I came from different worlds: I’m a devout Christian from Oakland, and he was an orthodox Jew-turned-atheist from Brooklyn. But when we met at St. Bons, he became my closest friend,” Dr. Allen said.
“Asher had a way of making you feel like he saw the best version of you, but he still loved you at your worst.”
“He was also one of the most courageous people I knew — brave enough to leave behind the people he loved to be the person he knew he was inside. He was stubborn, and opinionated, and he had a strange affinity for grandpa sweaters. He made a crazy good margarita, and he was just so, so much fun,” she said.
Jordan became angry and didn’t understand why he died and the “bigots who bludgeoned Asher to death” got to live.

As the episode came to a close, the St. Bonaventure Hospital crew came together and Asher’s boyfriend, Jerome, delivered gifts to the workers that Asher wanted to give them.
The Good Doctor is ending this year after seven seasons on ABC.

SO SAD
After The Good Doctor fans watched the latest episode, they shared their thoughts on X, formerly Twitter.
“So pissed #GoodDoctor killed off Asher the way that they did. He didn’t deserve that. I liked his character. #TheGoodDoctor,” one wrote.
Many fans compared them to Dr. Neil Melendez’s death during the Season 3 finale.
“Asher’s death feels like Melendez’, very precipitated and senseless, especially since it’s the show’s last season and it was cut short in episodes… guess they just needed some kind of drama for the season. Poor Asher. And Poor Jerome. #TheGoodDoctor,” one wrote.
“This reminds me of what they did to Melend
ez- a cheap and quick death for shock factor. What the heck! I loved Asher #TheGoodDoctor,” said another.
“Asher’s death feels a lot like Melendez’s death–sudden, no warning, and more shock value than anything else. I’ll miss Asher because I’ve always liked him, and I feel so awful for Jerome and Jordan especially. But everyone at St. Bon’s will miss him too. #TheGoodDoctor,” a third added.
“Erm so they give Asher a whole funeral and we get to the the characters actually discuss and grieve, whereas when they killed Melendez apart from Claire and Audrey literally no one mentions him ever again…
