‘Popular’ Emmerdale star axed from soap after 22 years and will be killed off in dramatic storyline

The Sun on Sunday understands Jimmy will be killed off in a dramatic storyline involving ex-wife Sadie King, played by Patsy Kensit, whose return we revealed last month.

An Emmerdale source said: “Everyone is shocked and it shows that no one is safe from the budget cuts.

“Bosses are under pressure to cut costs and sadly that means popular cast members being told their time is up.”

Nick’s axing comes after it was revealed that Olivia Bromley, who plays Dawn Fletcher, would be leaving later this year.

Jimmy was the last King brother standing following the deaths of Max, Matthew and Carl.

He is expected to film his exit shortly.

The source added: “Once the decision was made that Nick would be leaving, the writers quickly realised his character wouldn’t abandon his wife and children so they had to kill him off.

“That’s what made them approach Patsy about returning.”
