Fan-favourite character from “gripping” and “crisply executed” police drama has been recast for new spinoff

Blue Bloods‘ Sean Reagan has been recast for the upcoming spin-off series Boston Blue.

Andrew Terraciano played Sean through all 14 seasons of the police drama, the son of Daniel and Linda Rose Reagan.

Sean is set to appear in the first spinoff of the show after it ended last year, but Terraciano is not returning to the role and has been recast.

Instead, Mika Amonsen, best known for starring in horror film Thanksgivingwill take on the role.

Boston Blue will follow Danny as he moves from the NYPD to a new position in the Boston Police.

As per CBS, Boston Blue sees Sean relocate to Boston “to start a new chapter as a Boston PD patrolman. [He] committed himself to pursuing his family’s legacy but wanted to do so on his own terms, which meant joining a department outside of his hometown.

“Danny’s decision to stay in Boston gives this father and son duo a chance to reconnect on a deeper level.”

Donnie Wahlberg is set to return to the role of Sean’s father Danny Reagan, with Sonequa Martin-Green, Gloria Reuben, Ernie Hudson, Maggie Lawson and Marcus Scribner also starring alongside Wahlberg and Amonsen.

It is currently unknown whether any other original cast members or characters will be returning.

Speaking about Blue Bloods‘ ending, Wahlberg opened up on filming the emotional final scenes in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“I remember showing up that morning and there were much, much more crew members watching than usual. There’s usually a lot, everyone comes in and watches the rehearsals and sometimes we’ll say a little something,” he said.

“I might say, ‘It’s going to be a great day’ and I’ll get everyone all fired up and stuff. We’ll improvise some lines just to get a few laughs and such.

“But this day, I think everyone was really hanging on and again, trying to stay present and focus on the work and make sure we did the work well, but also trying not to get lost in the emotion of it all.”
