EastEnders star Shona McGarty has answered a burning question about how long her show return will last. The actor made an unexpected comeback earlier this week amid the Zack Hudson love triangle.

It comes as Vicki Fowler is due to marry Ross Marshall this week, with Zack still harbouring feelings for Vicki as he tries to create doubt in Ross’s mind by noting her recent infidelity, while also trying to discourage Vicki too.

Monday’s scenes saw Shona’s character Whitney Dean back, as Zack suggested she move back to Walford after her exit two years ago. However, Whitney confirmed that she is seeing someone new, ruling out a return.

Shona has now revealed that her appearance was very much a one-off, featuring in a behind-the-scenes video opening up about her cameo.

In the clip, Zack actor James Farrar says it is “wicked” to have her back, expressing wishes “it was longer”.

Shona later says: “So that is a wrap. First day back and the only day back.” She then winks at the camera in a manner suggesting more scenes, before clarifying: “No, it is the only day back.”

The soap captioned the clip: “Short but so sweet! Take a look at Shona McGarty’s BTS from her brief stint back on The Square. We hope you enjoyed seeing Whitney Dean as much as we did!”

Shona wrote in the comments that it was “a wonderful day” of work, beaming: “Stepping into those Whitney Boots again… The hoops and dogtooth had to make an appearance sooner or later x @jamescfarrar what a pleasure as usual xx.

“I’ll always be a huge fan of the show x Keep watching Easties, and keep your eyes peeled on what I get up to next xx.”

As well as Whitney, this week has also seen the surprise return of Sharon Watts, with Letitia Dean back a few months after last being seen on the soap.
