6 ways Emmerdale’s shock Jimmy King demise will impact the village (PART 2)
4. He’s an all-rounder

Of course, Jimmy isn’t just a figure of fun. He’s had some tough times, dating right back to the murder of his father and the deaths of brothers Max, Matthew and Carl. Because of this, Jimmy is known to share his profound thoughts on grief when the moment calls for it.
In recent years, actor Nick demonstrated his impressive range once more when Jimmy and Nicola’s daughter Angelica caused the death of Bob Hope’s youngest son Heath, and when Jimmy realised that nephew Tom had been inflicting violence and coercive control on wife Belle Dingle.
With a broad capacity for material, versatile Jimmy has always had a lot to offer.
5. He’s relatable
Among the heroes, anti-heroes and villains who dominate the screen, it’s everyman personas like Jimmy who make up the very backbone of serial drama.
There’s no doubt that one of the reasons he’s so popular is because viewers can see versions of themselves in Jimmy, who is flawed, naïve and, despite his quirks, just an ordinary bloke!
6. Jimmy has a rich history in the village

A genuine friend to everyone, Jimmy’s loss should be felt throughout the community – from business partners past and present Robert Sugden and Caleb Miligan respectively, to the Dingles and Tates.
Jimmy’s past has been referenced regularly on the show, reminding us just how established his roots are and how intricately he slots into other people’s stories.
Jimmy took responsibility for the house collapse which claimed the life of Bob’s daughter Dawn Woods, showing remorse lacked by true instigator Sadie. Somehow, despite this and what happened to poor Heath, Jimmy and Bob have held onto their friendship in a credible way.
Also, Bob’s stepdaughter Kelly Windsor is the biological mother of Jimmy’s son, Elliot – though we haven’t seen the teen interact with Bob for years.
And speaking of Jimmy’s offspring…
Where are the King kids?
Elliot and his half-brother Carl have been raised by Jimmy and doting stepmum Nicola, but they and older sister Angelica haven’t been seen for an unusually long time.
While Carl was last on-screen in October 2025 after sharing an indecent image of Clemmie Reed, Angel hasn’t appeared since early 2025, and Elliot has been missing in action even longer.
At the very least, we’d expect the trio to appear in the wake of Jimmy’s death. But, even if it’s just for foreshadowing purposes, might we see them spending some happy quality time with their father before tragedy strikes?
What next for Nicola?

The Kings’ last notable storyline took place at friend Laurel Thomas’s house, with the family temporarily relocating thanks to Jimmy leaving a bath running in their home!
But since they moved back in, we haven’t seen the place once – and it’s left us wondering if Nicola will get to grips with a new habitat beyond Jimmy’s death.
Faced with too many memories, perhaps the bereaved Nicola will need a change of scenery, deciding to move them all into the living quarters of their B&B. Or will she and the kids stay put as they embark on a painful new reality?
At least Nicola’s sweet bond with business partner Lewis Barton could have room to grow, giving him a chance to step up in her hour of need.
Could Jimmy’s half-sister Scarlett and ex-girlfriend Kelly return?
Jimmy’s only living sibling is half-sister Scarlett, who was last seen in 2012. The pair formed a close bond, so might Scarlett make a comeback for Jimmy’s funeral?
Meanwhile, although Kelly hasn’t visited since 2011, what if Jimmy’s death sees her rush back to reclaim their son, sparking a custody war that relights the fire in a protective Nicola?
It may just be wishful thinking on our part, but if Sadie can be brought back after 20 years away, anything is possible!
