Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd shares hair transplant update after shocking fans with new look
Jack P Shepherd has given fans an update on his hair transplant after debuting his shaved head look. The Coronation Street star has undergone the treatment twice before, once in 2018 and then again a year later.
The David Platt actor revealed he was undergoing a third hair transplant while speaking on his podcast, On The Sofa.
Taking to Instagram to share an update, the star confirmed the growth is already starting to come through.
“Washed it for the first time today. Growth is coming through slowly but surely. It’s alright, that’s it,” he laughed.Jack P Shepherd hair transplant

“This is my third one. So most people are thinking, I thought you’d just get one hair transplant and then it’s Elvis,” he said.
“But that’s not the case, apparently, because baldness still progresses as time goes on. So I had one in 2018, 2019, and now. So I’ve had it all done mainly on the front and sections.”
He then removed the hat he was wearing, showing off his shaved head while he waits for his hair to regrow.
“I think it’s a look, you know. I actually quite like it,” said Smith, who also had a hair transplant back in 2024, while Price burst out laughing.
Smith went on to say, “It suits you. Bald and beard’s a look,” while Price agreed, “I actually don’t think you look that bad. I could get used to you like that.”
On why he decided to get a third hair transplant, the actor said: “I could see it, I could see it further back in the middle. I could see it going in. So it was sort of act now while I could and I had a bit of time off for the baby, so it was perfect.”
“Paternity and hair transplant,” said Smith, to which Shepherd replied: “Exactly that. What a month!”
Jack P Shepherd has continued to keep fans updated on his latest hair transplant journey, and viewers have been fascinated by every stage of the process.
The actor, who has played David Platt on Coronation Street for more than two decades, recently revealed that he had undergone a third hair transplant procedure after noticing further hair loss developing over the past few years. While many people assume a single transplant permanently solves thinning hair, Shepherd explained that the reality is often much more complicated.
Speaking candidly about his experience, the soap star admitted that he began noticing subtle changes around the front and middle sections of his hairline. Although previous procedures had delivered excellent results, natural hair loss continued to progress, prompting him to take action once again.
Fortunately, the timing worked out perfectly. Shepherd had recently taken some time away from work following the arrival of his new baby, giving him an opportunity to recover privately before returning to public appearances.
Fans first got a glimpse of his dramatically different look when he appeared on his podcast wearing a cap. However, it didn’t take long before he revealed the full extent of the procedure, removing the hat and showing off his freshly shaved head.
The reaction from his fellow presenters was immediate. While some burst out laughing at the unexpected reveal, others were quick to reassure him that the look actually suited him surprisingly well.
His co-stars joked that he looked completely different from the David Platt viewers see on television every week. Yet many agreed that the shaved-head-and-beard combination gave him a rugged new appearance that worked in his favour.
The actor himself seemed relaxed about the transformation. Rather than trying to hide the recovery period, he chose to be completely open with fans about what he was experiencing.
That honesty has earned him praise online, with many followers thanking him for speaking openly about a topic that many men often find difficult to discuss.
Hair loss affects millions of people worldwide, yet it remains something many struggle to acknowledge publicly. Shepherd’s willingness to document the process has helped normalize conversations around cosmetic procedures and personal confidence.
In the days following the treatment, fans flooded his social media pages with questions about the recovery process. Many were curious about discomfort levels, healing times, and how quickly new hair would begin to grow.
Shepherd responded with characteristic humour, explaining that the first few weeks require patience. According to the actor, visible improvements do not happen overnight. Instead, growth gradually emerges over several months.
His latest update suggested that early signs of progress are already appearing. While the results remain subtle at this stage, he expressed optimism that the transplant is developing exactly as expected.
Several Coronation Street viewers commented that they were impressed by how transparent he has been throughout the journey.
One fan wrote that seeing a well-known television actor discuss hair restoration openly helped remove much of the stigma surrounding cosmetic treatments.
Another pointed out that Shepherd’s confidence seemed unaffected by the temporary shaved appearance, demonstrating that self-esteem comes from much more than physical appearance alone.
The conversation also sparked memories of previous transformations among Coronation Street cast members.
Over the years, numerous soap stars have undergone various health, fitness, and cosmetic changes while remaining in the public eye. Because viewers become so familiar with these actors through their long-running roles, even small changes often attract significant attention.
For Shepherd, however, the attention appears to be something he accepts as part of his career.
After spending so many years on one of Britain’s most popular television programmes, he has become accustomed to public scrutiny. Whether fans are discussing dramatic storylines involving David Platt or commenting on his latest hairstyle, interest in his life remains consistently high.
Some viewers have even joked that David Platt should temporarily adopt the shaved-head look on screen.
Although that scenario seems unlikely, it demonstrates just how invested audiences have become in Shepherd’s latest transformation.
Industry experts note that modern hair transplant techniques have advanced significantly over the past decade. Procedures are now more refined, recovery periods are often shorter, and results can appear increasingly natural when performed correctly.
This may explain why a growing number of public figures have become comfortable discussing their experiences openly.
Rather than treating cosmetic procedures as a secret, many celebrities now view transparency as a way of helping others make informed decisions.
Shepherd appears to share that philosophy.
Throughout his updates, he has avoided exaggerating the benefits or pretending the process is effortless. Instead, he has spoken honestly about the reality of ongoing maintenance and the fact that hair loss can continue even after successful procedures.
That practical approach has resonated strongly with fans.
As the months progress, followers will undoubtedly continue monitoring the actor’s updates to see how the final results develop.
For now, however, Shepherd seems perfectly content embracing the temporary shaved-head phase while waiting for the new growth to emerge.
And if the reactions from his friends, colleagues, and supporters are any indication, he has little reason to worry.
Many have already declared the look a success, with some even suggesting they prefer the bold new appearance.
Whether he ultimately returns to his familiar hairstyle or decides to experiment with something entirely different, one thing is certain: Jack P Shepherd’s latest transformation has become one of the most talked-about off-screen stories among Coronation Street fans.
As viewers continue following David Platt’s dramatic adventures in Weatherfield, they’ll also be keeping a close eye on Shepherd’s real-life journey—one that proves even television veterans are not immune to the everyday concerns shared by millions of people around the world.
For the actor, the experience has been a reminder that confidence often comes from taking proactive steps rather than worrying about change. And judging by the positive response he has received so far, fans are more than happy to support him every step of the way as his latest hair restoration journey continues.
