Boston Blue is one of the most-watched new shows of fall 2025, so it’s no surprise that CBS officially renewed the Blue Bloods spinoff for a second season pretty early. The network renewed Boston Blue and its other new Friday drama, Sheriff Country (a Fire Country spinoff), on Wednesday, December 3, after the shows premiered on Friday, October 17. The Season 1 finale airs Friday, May 22, and it’s going to end on a big cliffhanger (read all about it here).
CBS has already released its fall 2026 schedule. Here’s what we know about Boston Blue‘s future.
When does Boston Blue Season 2 premiere?
Boston Blue follows Donnie Wahlberg‘s Blue Bloods character, Danny Reagan, as he and son Sean Reagan (Mika Amonsen) make a new life for themselves in Boston. They’ve become close friends with Boston’s prominent law enforcement family, the Silvers, and Danny’s new partner is Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green).
Boston Blue Season 2 will premiere this fall on CBS.
What time is Boston Blue on?
Boston Blue took over its predecessor’s time slot on the network and will continue with that in the second season.
While a premiere date will be announced at a later time, fans can expect Boston Blue Season 2 to air on Fridays at 10/9c on CBS this Fall 2026 through Spring 2027.
Who is in the Boston Blue Season 2 cast?
In addition to Wahlberg, Martin-Green, and Amonsen, Boston Blue stars Gloria Reuben (Mae Silver), Maggie Lawson (Sarah Silver), Marcus Scribner (Jonah Silver), and Ernie Hudson (Reverend Edwin Peters). Blue Bloods‘ Marisa Ramirez has also guest-starred as Detective Maria Baez throughout the season. Bridget Moynahan reprised her role as Erin Reagan-Boyle in the series premiere and in Episode 16 (she also directed an installment this season). Len Cariou appeared as Henry Reagan in Episode 13, and Will Hochman reprises his Blue Bloods role of Joe Hill in the Season 1 finale on May 22.
Danny and Baez are finally in a romantic relationship in this series, but the long-distance relationship struggles are starting to take a toll. They broke up in Episode 15, but there’s hope that they could get back together in the finale.
