‘Coronation Street’ Legend Charlie Lawson Takes On Surprising New Job


Beloved Coronation Street star Charlie Lawson has opened up to fans about a very unexpected job that he has taken on.

The iconic actor took to social media to share with fans that he is helping his good friend Lisa and will be popping in part time on occasion at the Bridge 19 Café located in the Macclesfield Canal as a cook.

The actor proudly proclaimed, “I’m here sometimes too cooking for ya, so you can get a selfie.”

With that said, being a part time barista isn’t the only thing that Lawson has cooking up for fans, as the actor also announced that fans have the opportunity to see him ‘live’ and in person as he is going on tour this December. “It’s happening.” The actor excitedly announced on his Instagram. “It’s an evening with me.” Promising “Conversation, long tall tales, great stories about 45 years in the business. Fans quickly showed their support for the actor with one user taking to the comments on Facebook to say “Love it I’m coming for a selfie and the craic  and some cake ” While a fan on Facebook added, “Good on your  @charlie_lawson1 I’ll be sure to call in!”

Lawson is best known for portraying the role of Jim McDonald on the iTV soap opera, a role he portrayed for nearly thirty years off and on from 1989 until his final appearance in 2018.

At the time of his most recent appearance, the actor was interviewed by Digital Spy where he discussed the potential of returning to the popular iTV soap opera. The actor said, “Well you never know, because new producers come in and sometimes they like to kill people off – and sometimes they don’t like you, so they might not want you in! Everybody has a different regime.”

Lawson’s professional career began in 1982 with Harry’s Game where he portrayed Seamus Duffryn. From there in addition to Coronation Street he appeared in DoctorsCasualty, Holby City and The Bill.  The actors most recent short Tell-Tale Wank came out in 2022.
