Arrest made in Theo murder investigation as suspect flees Coronation Street
This article contains spoilers for tonight’s (Thursday, May 21) Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on YouTube and ITVX.
The investigation into Theo Silverton’s murder has taken huge strides in Coronation Street this week, with police finally securing enough evidence to make an arrest.
Unfortunately, this is bad news for Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), who is the prime suspect in the case.
She first caught the attention of detectives Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) and Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) earlier this week, after she was spotted in Lisa’s wedding pictures wearing the brooch that had later been found in Theo’s flat.
However, the final nail in Summer’s coffin came from George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), who gave in to his conscience and informed Lisa that Summer had lied about her whereabouts on the night of Theo’s murder.
Summer had originally told the detectives that she had last seen Theo a few days before he was found dead, but George knew that wasn’t the case, as he had seen her walking away from the flat that night.

To make matters worse, George had also found Summer’s diary, where she had detailed her true – and violent – feelings towards Theo.
Armed with the knowledge of how much Summer wanted him to suffer, and being urged on by Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), George came clean to Lisa about what he’d seen that night.
In tonight’s episode, Summer overheard George and Christina whispering in the café, and was left horrified when Christina said it wouldn’t be long before the police arrested Summer.
Terrified, Summer decided to flee Weatherfield.
Summer was recently offered a place at a university in America, so she wasted no time in contacting them and arranging to move over a few months early.
