Todd rocked to the core on Coronation Street as he is hit with shocking news

Dear Coronation Street. Any chance we can give Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) a break? Apparently not. His abusive husband Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) may be dead, but a face from the monster’s past is about to return the Cobbles to drop a bombshell on Todd’s head.

Todd’s nightmare at the hands of his tormentor seemed like it might go on forever.

Every time he tried to escape the violence and the vitirol, Theo would turn on the waterworks, give him excuses and lure him back with false promises, until the toxic cycle started afresh.

A particularly brutal beating forced Todd to confront the reality and report Theo to the police. But Theo wouldn’t take no for an answer and returned to torment Todd further. After a nail-biting final showdown between victim and abuser, Theo lay dead on the cobbles, killed by a mystery attacker.

Now Todd’s in the frame for Theo’s murder, along with his closest friends,George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley),  Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) – not to mention Theo’s former friend and local antihero Gary Windass (Mikey North).

But there’s one suspect who is definitely not Todd’s friend. Theo’s ex wife Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson)

Danielle didn’t have the best introduction to Todd on her first trip to Weatherfield – mainly because Theo came out as gay and ended their marriage to be with him.

Since they had two children together, Miles and Millie, Danielle had every reason to be furious and even seduced Todd’s brother Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) just to humiliate him and Theo.

This did not go well. Danielle reacted badly and was highly offended to be asked such a personal question by a total stranger. Unfortunately, Sarah didn’t have time to pursue the line of questioning, as they were interrupted by Theo and Todd.

Danielle was invited back to the Cobbles by Todd’s bestie Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), started to suspect that her friend was a victim of domestic abuse and delicately questioned Danielle to see if Theo had ever been violent towards her.

Danielle was furious at the implication – without denying it. But before Sarah could do damage control, Todd and Theo arrived.
